NRS Workshop 2017: CONUSS and Sychrotron Mössbauer Data Analysis
We would like to announce that a workshop on CONUSS and Synchrotron Mössbauer Data Analysis will be held on November 16-19, 2017 at Argonne National Laboratory.
This three-and-half-day workshop is organized within the COMPRES infrastructure initiative to promote the application of the state-of-the-art Nuclear Resonant Scattering (NRS) techniques for characterizing the properties of materials under high P-T conditions of planetary interiors. The workshop is jointly supported by COMPRES and APS, ANL. The purpose of the workshop is to train current and potential scientific users in synchrotron Mӧssbauer spectroscopy and data analysis using CONUSS.
Synchrotron Mӧssbauer spectroscopy (SMS) in the time domain provides information on spin, magnetic properties and valence state of the Mӧssbauer isotope (such as 57Fe, 119Sn, 151Eu, 161Dy, 83Kr) containing samples under extreme pressure and temperature conditions.
During the workshop we intend to
• provide an introduction of the Mӧssbauer spectroscopy and SMS technique
• introduce CONUSS package for SMS data evaluation
• cover a variety of essential aspects of data analysis in CONUSS
• discuss SMS applications to important geophysical problems
• discuss recent developments at the beamline and added features to the software.
Registration for the workshop is free. Limited travel support is available for students or early career scientists from domestic COMPRES member institutions upon request. Please note that the registration deadline is Oct. 20, 2017. If you have any question, please contact Dr. Wenli Bi at wbi@aps.anl.gov. Registration details and additional information may be found on the workshop website.
