Two Postdoctoral Researcher Positions in Mineral Physics at Southern University of Science and Technology


The mineral physics group led by Dr. Zhicheng Jing in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences ( at Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China, invites applications for two Postdoctoral Researcher Positions. Successful candidates will conduct experimental or theoretical studies on the physical and chemical properties of mantle and core materials with applications to understanding the structure, composition, and dynamics of Earth and planetary interiors.
A Ph.D. in Earth and planetary sciences or a related field at the start of the appointment is required, as is the experience with at least one of the following experimental or theoretical approaches: (1) large volume press (such as multi-anvil or piston-cylinder devices) techniques, (2) diamond anvil cell techniques, and/or (3) first-principle calculations using density functional theory.
The positions are available immediately for an appointment of two years with the possibility of an extension based on performance and funding availability. The base annual salary is RMB¥270,000 (about $39,000), with additional benefits. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to compete, based on performance and qualifications, for the SUSTech Presidential Fellowship, which offers a salary of RMB¥350,000 (about $51,000).
