Postdoctoral Associate (In situ synchrotron research)

The Department of Geosciences at Stony Brook University invites applications for a postdoctoral associate within any specialty of the general field of in situ synchrotron research. We seek a candidate with the potential to augment or build upon one or more of our current research strengths in areas such as in situ high pressure synthesis, in situ low temperature (< 250°C) studies of nano-mineral formation, and synthesis science applied to functional materials. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in the geo-, materials-sciences, chemistry, physics or closely related experimental field at the time of appointment and preference will be given to those with related experience in working with x-ray and/or neutron scattering at national synchrotron and/or neutron facilities. The successful candidate must also have the clear potential to establish an independent research program that would include mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
