Tenure Track Faculty Position in Geological Sciences at Stanford University

Description:

The Department of Geological Sciences seeks a scientist to lead a research and educational program that will contribute to one or more of prioritized departmental themes to which we plan to make additional hires in the coming years: Earth resources; geologic and environmental hazards; and planetary science, including surface and interior processes as well as processes and evolution of the early Earth. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level.

The successful candidate will use theoretical, observational, and/or experimental approaches to study fundamental problems in geology relevant to the prioritized departmental themes. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop an excellent record of teaching and mentoring our diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates who can leverage existing analytical and computational facilities at Stanford, including the capacity to characterize Earth materials at the micro- and nano-scales.
Review of applications will commence on October 31st, 2017. The position will remain open until filled. Questions can be directed to Lauren Nelson at lmnelson@stanford.edu.
